The annual Student Research Symposium (SRS) organized by the Faculty Research Cell (FRC) of the Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences (FBESS) was held on 26th of July 2024 at the Southern Campus Auditorium. This event marked the third consecutive year of the symposium, held under the theme “Resilient Built Environment: Navigating Global Transformations with Innovative and Sustainable Practices.”

The symposium showcased the research work of 12 undergraduates from the disciplines of Architecture, Quantity Surveying, and Surveying Sciences. Dr. Himahansi Galkanda served as the keynote speaker, offering valuable insights and setting a scholarly tone for the event. The symposium also featured a panel of esteemed judges; Dr S. Vithanage, Dr. Malithi Padmaja and Chartered Quantity Surveyor Gayan Fernando whose expertise and evaluation were crucial to the event’s success.

Awards for the Best Presentation were granted to two presenters; EPD Karunarathne and KMSP Swarnasinghe for their relevant and innovative studies, reflecting the high caliber of work presented. The event was attended by a diverse audience including the Rector Southern Campus, Dean FBESS, academic staff members, military staff, and students.

The Faculty Research Cell extends its gratitude to all participants, speakers, and attendees for their contributions, which have collectively made this symposium a notable success.
