“Pathways to Success: Navigating Careers in Surveying Science and Technology”
The Career Guidance Unit of the Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences (FBESS) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) – Southern Campus successfully conducted the Spatial Science Career Guidance Day under the theme of “Pathways to Success: Navigating Careers in Surveying Science and Technology” for Surveying Sciences undergraduates in collaboration with the Department of Spatial Sciences on 20th March 2024 at KDU Southern Campus. This program was conducted to impart knowledge on different career opportunities in the field of Surveying Sciences.
Prestigious companies: Bhoomitech (Pvt) Ltd, Global GIS (Pvt) Ltd and SULECO (Pvt) Ltd participated in the event as resource persons. They engaged in presentations and discussions on the Latest technologies and Future Career Opportunities in Surveying. As part of the event, practical sessions were conducted based on Drone surveying, GPS surveying and Terrestrial LiDAR surveying. Three individual company stalls were also displayed throughout the event.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Career Guidance Advisor of FBESS Syr. KAM Chathuranga and Head of the Department of Spatial Sciences Syr. KA Dinisha. Rector, Southern Campus Major General LCR Jayasuriya, Dean, Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences Dr AH Lakmal, military, academic, administrative staff and undergraduates of Southern campus were present in the event.
With a focus on bridging the gap between academia and industry, the Spatial Science Career Guidance Day catalyzed students to explore diverse career pathways, forge meaningful connections, and chart a course towards success in the field of Surveying Science and Technology.
