Intake 39 and Intake 40 students of Department of Spatial Sciences visited the District Survey Office Rathnapura on 09th of October 2023 to participate in a series of academic activities. They had the rare opportunity of visiting the record room of the District Survey Office and were able to observe many valuable documents related to surveying including maps, plan and field notes.

Upon completing the sessions at the District Survey Office, the students visited Institute of Surveying & Mapping (ISM), one of the leading institutions, involved with the higher education of Surveying & Mapping in Sri Lanka. The students were able to visit the Survey Museum, Geodetic Branch, Photogrammetric Branch, Calibration Base and other important places within the ISM.

At the end of the field work session, the students visited the Piduruthalagala Triangulation Point as another mandatory requirement of their modules.
