The launching ceremony of the KDU Journal of Built Environment (KDU-JBE); the first ever academic journal published by the Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences (FBESS) took place on 03rd of March 2023. The event venue was the auditorium of KDU Southern Campus. The launching ceremony was attended by students and the staff of the Faculty of Built environment. The inaugural occasion of launching of the journal website was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, and Rector Southern Campus, Major General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc.
The introductory speech was carried out by Dr. A.H. Lakmal, Dean (FBESS), while Archt. Associate Professor Dr. M. N. R Wijetunge of Department of Architecture delivered a speech covering the content and use of the impending journal. The KDU-JBE is to provide a platform for local and international academic scholars to publish their research works. It is open to multidisciplinary fields with regard to the construction industry; largely covering areas of architecture, quantity surveying and surveying sciences etc. The KDU-JBE in the long run, will be instrumental for the upliftment of the research culture within the Faculty of Built Environment of KDU. The first issue of the journal is planned to be in print by end of May 2023.
