The first-ever journal of the Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, KDU Journal of Built Environment (KDU JBE) and the industrial magazine on Quality by the Department of Industrial Quality Management were ceremoniously launched on 28th July 2023. The event, graced by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defense, General Kamal Gunarathna, WWV, RWP, RSP, USP, ndc, psc, MPhil marked a significant milestone in the history of the faculty.
KDU-JBE is an international open access peer reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high quality research in the spheres of Architecture, Quantity Surveying and Surveying Sciences. The journal intends to accomplish the much needed requirement of an international platform for the faculty academia to evolve in their specialized disciplines by publishing their innovative research. The Industrial Quality Magazine is designed to publish quality related current news, trends in the industry and quality oriented practices with the objective of ensuring the continuous engagement with the industry by the students and academia. The first issue of the biannual magazine was launched under the theme “Quality” for sustainable future.
Several dignitaries, including the Chairman, University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, Senior. Professor Sampath Amaratunge, Additional secretary – Parliamentary affairs Sri Lanka Mrs. Indika Wijegunawardhana, Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Rector, KDU Southern campus Major General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc, Deputy vice Chancellor – Defense, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, attended the event along with the Faculty academia, military staff and undergraduates.
