The students of intakes 36 and 38 of the Department of Architecture of Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences (FBESS) of Southern Campus of the KDU took part in DESIGNATHON 2022. The interior design live workshop organized by the Oklahoma State University (OSU) of the USA took place between 14-16th October 2022. Five groups of students took part in the exercise along with groups from OSU, as well as University of Miami, U.S.A. and Golestan University, Iran. The Group 5 from KDU won third place for their innovative futuristic design project entitled ‘Sentry of the Earth’.
The Vice Chancellor of KDU Major General Milinda Pieris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil (Ind) presented the certificates for the winning group on the 7th of Fenruary 2023 at KDU Ratmalana, in the presence of Dean of FBESS, Dr. A. H. Lakmal. The Head of the Department of Architecture, Archt. Nuwan Premaratne, the resource person/coordinator for the project Archt. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nishan Rasanga Wijetunge was also present at the occasion, along with Archt. Dr. Malthi Padmaja who is in charge of Intake 38. The names of the certificate awardees are A. K. Adikaram, B. A. K. U. Bangama, W. L. V. Venora, W. I. S. N. Fernando, K. M. S. Asiri and M. A. M Chamika.
