In a bid to broaden the knowledge faculties of Quantity Surveying undergraduates, the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, organized a guest lecture on “An Overview of the IQSSL (Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Sri Lanka) and Its Undertones on the Quantity Surveying Profession” on 17th February 2022 at the Auditorium, Southern Campus, KDU. A former President of IQSSL, Ch. QS, Mr. G.M. Upul Shantha and the Treasurer of the IQSSL, Ch. QS, Mr. DMH Gunasekara, delivered this lecture and enlightened undergraduates on “the role of the quantity surveyor; past, present, and future” and “the history of IQSSL”. Most significantly, a comprehensive discussion was conducted on how to become a professional quantity surveyor through illustrating pathways for obtaining IQSSL membership. Academics from the Department of Quantity Surveying flanked by the Departmental Head, Mr Sanjeewa Bandara, undergraduates from intake 39, 38, and 37 participated in the lecture and interacted highly during the question-and-answer session.
