The B.Sc. (Hons) in Industrial and Service Quality Management is an undergraduate degree program offered by the Department of Industrial Quality Management. This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to ensure high standards of quality and efficiency in industrial and service-oriented organizations.

Graduate Profile

Students who have completed the B.Sc. Honors in Industrial and Service Quality Management degree will have acquired an advanced level of education including both specialist knowledge and general intellectual and life skills that prepare them for gainful employment in the field of quality management and cover the knowledge, skills, attitudes and mindsets which are required to be a perfect professional in the field of sustainable quality management.

The graduate will be able to

  • acquire the subject knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field of industrial and service quality management.
  • apply the knowledge and skills to solve the real-world problems in the field of industrial and service quality management.
  • adapt to different environment with mindset, desirable attitudes and a vision for life and maintaining professionalism.

Objectives of the Degree Programme

  • To produce a competent graduate to face the dynamic challenges in achieving excellence with the required competencies in the field of quality management in the service and industrial sectors.
  • To produce an employable graduate with a sound competence in the field of quality management nationally and internationally.
  • To develop the entrepreneurship skills which will promote an independent professional in the field of quality management.
  • To create the graduate as a consultant who will be able to consult the public and private organization and other stake holders to improve the productivity and quality of them.
  • To contribute to the national economy as being a partner of sustainable development process in Sri Lanka.

Eligibility Requirements (Qualifications for University Admission)

  • GCE A/L: A minimum of three Simple Passes (S) of the subjects of Physical Science, Bio Science, Commerce, and Arts streams at one and the same sitting of the GCE A/L examination and be qualified for university admission.
  • GCE O/L Credit pass for Mathematics and English.
  • Aptitude Test + Interview conducted by KDU

Industrial Training

Semester 6 involves full-time industrial training which provides the students a job training experience at sites owned by tri forces, private and state sectors. The performance of students during this phase is monitored and individually assessed based on their training report, daily diary maintained by them and a viva voce. The performance of students during this phase is assessed and carries 15 GPA credits including 9 credits for industrial training and 6 credits for project report.
